Read aloud tips on how to become the last character in the story | The Story Elves - Help with writing, editing, illustrating and designing your own stories

The Last Character in the Story is the reader! It is the reader
who enters the story and adds the final essential touches! As
The Story Elves workshop narrator, I humbly offer my expert
council on this vital role!  When reading aloud…

  • Pronounce each word clearly.
  • Don’t read too quickly!
  • Or too slowwwwwly!
  • You also want to speak up, so that you
are heard by all of your gathered listeners!
  • Then again, you won’t want to wake the neighbors!
  • Don’t forget emphasis: dramatic and exotic words, characters who
speak, important moments in the story…all are perfect for emphasis!
  • Practice giving each character his own unique voice! This will truly
make characters come alive for your listeners!
  • Possibly most important of all, invite your listeners to snuggle up
before you start! Listeners can never be too cozy while delighting in a
    story read aloud!

Tarsiers are shy creatures. If we can read aloud, anyone can! So, who would like to be first?!
